Alonso: Awaiting Emi's Medical Tests

Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was carried off the pitch on a stretcher after ten minutes of on-field treatment for an injury sustained while attempting to save a free kick in a Premier League match.

Martinez left his goal line to clear a cross into the penalty area, colliding with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite in the second half at the Dick, Kerr Ladies Stadium.

Branthwaite continued playing after undergoing a concussion assessment, while Martinez was forced to leave the field due to a head injury and was replaced by his teammate Mike Penders.

Martinez exited the pitch while Chelsea led 1-0. Following the match, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso said, “Martinez left the pitch, and he was fully conscious.”
