As part of efforts to support national initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and empowering youth to innovate solutions for environmental challenges, Kuwait Technical College (KTech) participated in the press conference launching the “Private Universities E-Waste Recycling Challenge” initiative. The event was organized by the Eco Incubator for Environment and Renewable Energy in collaboration with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), held last Wednesday at the PAAET auditorium, with participation from several strategic partners and representatives of the participating universities and colleges.
The initiative aims to raise environmental awareness among university and college students, encouraging their active participation in e-waste recycling by leveraging technology and innovation and adopting responsible practices that contribute to environmental protection and resource conservation. It also seeks to reinforce the role of educational institutions in empowering youth to transform their knowledge and technical skills into ideas and initiatives with positive and sustainable impacts on society.
KTech’s participation underscores its commitment to supporting initiatives that bridge education with practical application, providing students with opportunities to apply their technical skills to address environmental challenges, in alignment with the State of Kuwait’s direction toward sustainable development and the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035.
Speaking at the press conference, Misha’i Ayman Boudi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Kuwait Technical College, stated, “At Kuwait Technical College, we believe that education, technology, and innovation are fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development. The role of educational institutions extends beyond knowledge transfer to preparing a generation equipped with the skills and capabilities needed to confront future challenges and contribute to practical solutions.”
He added, “Our participation in the Eco Incubator initiative highlights the importance of empowering youth and encouraging them to apply their knowledge and technical skills to serve the environment and society, while raising their awareness that every innovative idea has the potential to create a positive impact.”
He continued, “We do not merely aim to prepare students capable of keeping pace with the future; we aspire to cultivate a generation capable of shaping it.”
To expand student participation, awareness workshops on the initiative are scheduled to be held in November at several private universities and colleges in Kuwait, with the goal of introducing the challenge’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of e-waste recycling, and explaining participation mechanisms and the role of students in ensuring the initiative’s success.
KTech is scheduled to host its own awareness workshop on November 3, to inform students about the initiative’s key components and requirements, and to encourage them to submit innovative ideas and initiatives that support e-waste recycling and promote responsible environmental practices both on and off campus.
Guided by its vision of preparing a technologically proficient and innovative generation, Kuwait Technical College will continue to support initiatives that integrate education, technology, and sustainability, empowering students to transform knowledge into practical solutions that contribute to environmental protection and societal benefit, thereby supporting the construction of a more sustainable future for Kuwait.
Building on this initiative, KTech hopes that this participation will enhance environmental awareness among students and motivate them to adopt sustainable practices and participate in reducing e-waste, firmly believing that investing in youth and innovation is a crucial step toward a more conscious and sustainable future for coming generations.
