Jassim Al-Buaidi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his appreciation for the position articulated by members of the United Nations Security Council in its presidential statement regarding the attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that the Council’s condemnation of these attacks constitutes a clear international message rejecting the continued targeting of the Kingdom and its national assets, as well as the threat to maritime navigation security and international trade routes.
Al-Buaidi clarified that the significance of the statement lies in affirming the international community’s responsibility to halt these violations and prevent the Houthi militia from continuing to receive weapons and support that fuel its aggression. He noted that full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) represents an international obligation that must be fulfilled, thereby contributing to ending these practices that threaten the security and stability of the region.
Al-Buaidi reaffirmed that the GCC views the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a fundamental pillar of the shared Gulf security framework. He stated that GCC member states stand together with a unified and decisive position alongside the Kingdom, supporting all measures it takes to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and protect its citizens and residents within its territory.
