Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi described the completion of the cabinet formation and the appointment of deputy prime ministers on Thursday evening as a boost to the government’s capacity to manage national files, and as a momentum for coordinating efforts and implementing the commitments and programs awaited by the people.

In a press statement after the conclusion of the parliamentary session to complete the formation of the Iraqi government, Al-Zaidi said, “We recognize that we face large and complex files, and that the aspirations of Iraqis require us to double our efforts and translate plans and decisions into tangible results that citizens experience in their daily lives.”

He added, “We are now taking rapid steps toward diligent work, and we pledge to the Iraqi people that we will continue to implement our government’s priorities and program, and respond to the aspirations of Iraqis.”

He noted, “Over the past months, our government has worked with perseverance, patience, and determination amid highly complex conditions both domestically and internationally. The war in the region, which continues, imposes exceptional economic challenges on Iraq, in addition to security challenges that demand the highest levels of responsibility and vigilance.”

Al-Zaidi emphasized, “Our shared responsibility requires directing all efforts toward work and achievement. We call on the deputy prime ministers and ministers who have won the confidence of parliament to discharge their duties with the highest levels of commitment, competence, and integrity, and to mobilize their capabilities to serve citizens, working in a team spirit to implement the government’s priorities and achieve its national objectives.”

Earlier on Thursday evening, the Iraqi parliament voted on the vacant ministerial portfolios, adding three new portfolios and three deputy prime ministers for the next four years.
