The Ministry of Health announced that a medical team at Jabir Al-Ahmad Hospital successfully performed a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) on a patient in his seventies, who suffered from severe aortic stenosis and had been repeatedly hospitalized due to fluid accumulation in the lungs, commonly known as “water on the lungs.”

In a press statement, the ministry noted that the procedure was carried out by a medical team comprising Dr. Ali Sahib and Dr. Mohammed Al-Turki, under local anesthesia, using the Navitor Vision valve, a modern valve specifically designed for transcatheter implantation to treat aortic stenosis.

The ministry added that the patient was discharged from the hospital in good health two days after the transcatheter procedure, with no significant complications, marking a success that reflects the medical team’s efficiency and ability to manage complex cardiac cases using advanced technologies.

It further noted that the procedure was broadcast live via satellite to the Gulf Heart Valves Conference held in Dubai, where conference organizers and participating experts from the United States praised the competence and expertise of Kuwaiti physicians in performing such advanced cardiac interventions.
