The second edition of the Gulf Cup for Under-17 teams, “Qatar 2026,” kicks off tomorrow, Friday, hosted by Qatar from October 16 to November 4. Ten national teams will compete in 23 matches, marking the largest edition of the tournament in terms of participating teams.
The tournament is organized by the Local Organizing Committee in Qatar, in coordination with the Gulf Football Union. The participating teams have been divided into two groups, each containing five teams.
The draw, held in September, resulted in the distribution of the participating teams into two groups of five.
The tournament opens tomorrow with a Group A match between the Qatari national team and China, making its debut in the competition, at the Grand Hamad Stadium.
Saudi Arabia will begin its title defense on Sunday with a match against Egypt at the Grand Hamad Stadium, while the second match of the day features Iraq against Yemen at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
According to the tournament regulations, if either of the semi-final matches or the final ends in a draw after regular time, the winner will be decided directly by a penalty shootout.
