Kuwait’s Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabaei, received on Thursday the students who won two bronze medals in the Gulf Countries Poetry, Short Story, and Novel Competition for the academic year 2025–2026, along with their supervisors, in recognition of their outstanding literary achievements and their distinguished representation of the State of Kuwait at Gulf forums.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Education, student Khalif Jaza Khalif, a twelfth-grade student in the science section at Al-Waha Secondary School, won the bronze medal in the poetry category. Meanwhile, student Sheikha Waleed Al-Saif, an eleventh-grade student in the science section at Al-Farwaniya Secondary School, won the bronze medal in the short story category. These achievements came within the framework of the second edition of the competition, held under the slogan “Creativity in Arabic.”
The Minister of Education praised the students’ accomplishments, which reflect the literary talents and promising creative abilities of Kuwaiti students. He emphasized the importance of nurturing outstanding student potential and providing an educational environment that stimulates discovery and development of their talents, thereby enhancing their presence in Gulf and Arab-level cultural and literary competitions.
The Minister affirmed that the political leadership’s support for the education sector and its attention to students constitute a fundamental pillar for promoting excellence and advancing the educational system. He noted that identifying and supporting student talents is a national responsibility that requires sustained efforts and the provision of opportunities to develop students’ capabilities and highlight their creativity across various fields. This is particularly relevant given the existence of a dedicated office within the Ministry of Education responsible for nurturing and supporting gifted students, contributing to the preparation of a creative generation proud of its national identity and committed to serving its country, achieving accomplishments that elevate the name of the State of Kuwait and strengthen its standing in Gulf, Arab, and international forums.
The Minister commended the efforts of school administrations, technical guidance departments, and all Ministry of Education staff in supporting students and nurturing their talents. He highlighted the role of technical advisor Mr. Mohammed Faraj in monitoring students and overseeing their participation, and underscored the important role of parents as partners in supporting, encouraging, and developing their children’s abilities. He clarified that these achievements are the result of integrated efforts between schools and families, and a shared commitment to providing opportunities that enable gifted students to showcase their capabilities and achieve excellence.
The competition events were held in person from October 6 to 8, 2026, at the headquarters of the Gulf Countries Educational Center for the Arabic Language in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Students from Gulf countries participated in the poetry, short story, and novel categories. The participation of Kuwaiti students reflected their distinctive linguistic and literary capabilities and their eagerness to engage in cultural experiences that help refine their skills and enhance their confidence in their creative outputs.
