At Least 27 Children Killed After School Roof Collapses in Pakistan

Pakistani officials announced on Thursday that at least 27 children were killed after the roof of a private school collapsed in the Deir Colony neighborhood of Peshawar, in the country’s northwest.

Geo News reported that Lady Reading Hospital, which had initially announced four deaths linked to the incident, later confirmed that 27 bodies had arrived at the hospital.

Asim Khan from Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar told the Agence France-Presse that more than 30 people were injured, including six in critical condition.

Rescue officials had earlier stated that several children were trapped under the rubble following the school’s roof collapse.
