Major Muassad Al-Aslawi, head of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, warned drivers who park their vehicles in unauthorized areas to ensure, before moving their cars, that no sticker issued by the Ministry of Interior – General Directorate of Traffic – indicating that a wheel clamp has been installed on the vehicle’s tire is present, to avoid damaging the tire or the clamp when moving the vehicle.

Al-Aslawi added that violators whose vehicles have been clamped must pay the fine through the “Sahel” app or visit the nearest traffic department, then place the payment receipt on the vehicle’s windshield and send a photo of it to the General Directorate of Traffic’s WhatsApp number (99324092), to facilitate the necessary procedures for removing the clamp.

He clarified that the General Directorate of Traffic is launching intensive traffic campaigns targeting vehicles and motorcycles belonging to non-compliant delivery companies, starting next Sunday. He noted that these campaigns aim to enforce traffic violations, strengthen compliance with traffic rules, and curb behaviors that endanger road users.

Al-Aslawi emphasized that the campaigns will cover cars and motorcycles used in delivery activities, pointing out that any such vehicle caught committing a violation may be impounded for at least 60 days, in accordance with established procedures.

He explained that the measures will not be limited to offending drivers but will also extend to companies that fail to cooperate with the General Directorate of Traffic in educating their employees and reducing violations. He added that if a company does not cooperate and its drivers accumulate a large number of violations, administrative actions will be taken against the company.

He noted that the General Directorate of Traffic held a meeting with delivery company owners, during which video footage of delivery cars and motorcycles committing traffic violations was shown, aiming to inform company officials about the most prominent unsafe behaviors and their risks to road users.

He outlined that the most commonly observed violations include changing lanes and switching between traffic lanes without using turn signals, running red lights, overtaking vehicles stopped at traffic signals, and driving on sidewalks and pedestrian bridges – practices that can disrupt traffic flow and lead to accidents.
