The Kuwait Stock Exchange maintained its mixed performance for the second consecutive session during today’s trading. Both the First Market Index and the General Market Index closed with slight gains, while the Main Market Index experienced a limited decline.
Trading sessions witnessed fluctuations between gains and losses, with several stocks shifting between positive and negative territory. However, the stability of leading stocks helped support the First Market Index, which in turn positively influenced the General Market Index, allowing it to retain its modest gains by the end of the session.
This stability in leading stocks coincided with the approaching deadline for the release of financial results for the first nine months of the current year, amid expectations of positive outcomes. This has heightened anticipation regarding corporate performance in the coming period, particularly since profit growth could positively impact annual cash dividends and provide additional support to stocks with strong fundamentals.
Conversely, some stocks listed on the Main Market suffered notable declines, despite limited trading volumes. This exerted pressure on the index’s performance, keeping it in negative territory.
In the First Market, the stock of Makhazen topped the gainers’ list, rising by nearly 3 percent, followed by Al-Mabani, which increased by over 2.4 percent. In the Main Market, several stocks posted positive performance, although some gains were achieved through limited trading volumes. Al-Kout rose by approximately 10 percent, while gains for Ajyal and Gulf Insurance exceeded 4 percent each.
Traded value recorded a noticeable decline, contrary to its usual mid-week trends, dropping by 20.6 percent to reach approximately 56 million Kuwaiti dinars, compared to 70.6 million dinars in yesterday’s session.
The First Market continued to capture the largest share of this liquidity, accounting for 61 percent, while the Main Market held the remaining 39 percent.
A total of 135 stocks were traded; 44 rose, 78 fell, and prices remained stable for 13 stocks. Weighted indices for nine sectors in the market advanced, led by the Technology sector with a 2.41 percent increase and Basic Materials with a 1.18 percent rise. Meanwhile, indices for four sectors declined, headed by the Healthcare sector, which fell by 3.77 percent, and Consumer Services, which dropped by 0.89 percent.
