The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Kuwait, Yerzhan Yelkiev, met with Barathan Pasupathy, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, to discuss opportunities for enhancing air connectivity between the two countries. The discussions focused on the importance of resuming direct flights to support tourism and trade, strengthen people-to-people ties, and consolidate bilateral relations between Kuwait and Kazakhstan.
Yerzhan Yelkiev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Kuwait, said: “Kazakhstan possesses attractive tourism assets for travelers from Kuwait, thanks to its unique natural environment, advanced tourism infrastructure, and diverse entertainment options. Direct air connectivity will play a key role in leveraging these potentials. We look forward to Jazeera Airways resuming its flights to Kazakhstan, and we are ready to provide the necessary support to facilitate and enhance cooperation.”
The Ambassador added: “I am confident that resuming direct flights, when conditions permit, will give a new boost to mutual tourism flows, strengthen commercial and economic relations—including facilitating increased exports of Kazakh products to the Kuwaiti market—and contribute to deepening ties between the business communities of our two countries.”
Barathan Pasupathy, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, said: “We thank Ambassador Yelkiev for his continued engagement and support. Jazeera Airways began operating flights to Almaty in 2021, and although operations were later suspended, Kazakhstan remains an important market for us. We value the strong relations between our two countries and recognize the crucial role that direct air connectivity plays in supporting tourism, business, and broader bilateral ties.”
Jazeera Airways currently operates flights to more than 50 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa, connecting Kuwait to key tourism and business markets. The company continues to strengthen and expand its route network by launching new destinations and resuming previous routes in response to passenger demand and market opportunities, while also supporting Kuwait’s growing position as a regional hub for air transport.
