The National Cybersecurity Center announced the launch of the 2026 national “Sur” cybersecurity awareness campaign, in partnership with Kuwait Finance House and Code Academy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The campaign is built on two integrated pillars: an awareness tour reaching 12 government schools, with two schools in each governorate, and a media marathon to produce awareness content targeting 150 Kuwaiti youth aged 15 to 25.

Mariam Al-Anzi, Director General of the General Administration of Supporting Educational Services at the Ministry of Education, said in a media statement today that the national cybersecurity initiative reflects our shared commitment to protecting our student children in the digital space and enhancing their awareness of the risks of online fraud and ways to safeguard their data and privacy.

She added, “The impact of the initiative extends beyond merely acquiring knowledge; it also aims to instill responsible digital behavior and spread a culture of cybersecurity among students and their families.” She emphasized, “We at the Ministry believe that investing in our children’s awareness and skills is an investment in Kuwait’s security and future.”

For his part, Badr Al-Asimi, Director of Cyber Development and Capabilities at the Center, said, “Through the Sur campaign, we aim to equip students and youth with practical skills that help them detect fraud attempts, protect their accounts and data, and make safer decisions when using technology.”

Faisal Al-Sari, Executive Director of Corporate Relations and Social Responsibility at Kuwait Finance House, noted that the bank believes in the importance of investing in youth awareness and preparing them to keep pace with the demands of the digital age, considering them the cornerstone of Kuwait’s future. Through its participation in the Sur initiative, Kuwait Finance House is keen to support this national partnership aimed at raising cybersecurity awareness among students.

For his part, Hashem Bahbahani, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Code Academy, stated that cybersecurity is no longer a technical specialty limited to a specific group, but has become a life skill needed by anyone who owns a mobile phone.

He added that today’s attacks target humans as much as systems, with young people being the most vulnerable due to their heavy presence in the digital space. Therefore, Sur was designed to reach them in their schools, and then provide them with a space where they can transform what they have learned into content that speaks to their peers using artificial intelligence tools they master.
