Burkan Bank recently organized an interactive workshop titled “Cardiac Resuscitation and First Aid,” in collaboration with Kuwait Hospital and the American University of Science (AUS) in Kuwait, coinciding with World First Aid Day. This initiative aligns with the bank’s comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy, its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, and its dedication to supporting initiatives that enhance health awareness and reinforce preventive practices within society.
The workshop was held at the AUS campus. This tripartite collaboration exemplifies the integration of expertise and resources to deliver high-quality initiatives that support students and serve the community, particularly in the field of health awareness. The event targeted a group of high school students, with specialized medical staff from Kuwait Hospital providing theoretical and practical training on the fundamental principles of first aid. Students were also trained in cardiac resuscitation and methods for responding quickly and safely to common emergencies. The workshop aimed to equip students with practical skills to handle emergency situations appropriately, emphasizing the importance of first aid as a fundamental human skill.
On this occasion, Dana Faisal Al-Jasim, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Burkan Bank, stated: “We at the bank believe that empowering youth extends beyond academics; it also involves providing them with the skills and knowledge they need in their daily lives. Through this workshop, we aim to raise awareness about the basics of first aid and encourage students to acquire skills that could potentially save lives when needed. This initiative falls under our social responsibility and sustainability strategy.”
Al-Jasim added: “We are proud of this collaboration with the American University of Science and Kuwait Hospital, both institutions under the umbrella of Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO), which brings together the expertise of group entities to deliver meaningful initiatives with tangible impact. We look forward to continuing such partnerships that enable us to provide educational and practical experiences that enrich youth development and enhance their positive role in society.”
In parallel with the health component, the bank’s team focused on enhancing financial awareness among students by highlighting the “Let’s Be Aware” banking awareness campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait Banks Association and supported by local banks. The campaign introduces simplified financial concepts that encourage saving and sound financial planning from an early age.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Burkan Bank honored representatives of Kuwait Hospital in appreciation of their efforts and contribution to the success of the training program, presenting them with a commemorative plaque. Participating students were also honored and awarded certificates upon completing the training program, along with receiving commemorative gifts in recognition of their engagement and participation.
Continuing its comprehensive corporate social responsibility strategy and implementation of best practices in sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, the bank continues to contribute to initiatives and activities that benefit society, including health, education, banking awareness, environmental protection, and youth empowerment. These efforts are encapsulated under the slogan “You Are Our Motivation,” reflecting the bank’s commitment to maintaining its role as an active partner in supporting community initiatives and contributing to a positive and sustainable impact on Kuwaiti society.
