The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the blatant attack launched by the Houthi militia against King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, in the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The attack resulted in casualties among innocent civilians, including passengers and airport workers who are Saudi nationals and citizens of various other nationalities, and led to the temporary suspension of operational activities at the airport.

In a statement issued today, Sunday, the Ministry emphasized that this heinous and cowardly attack constitutes a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. It stressed that the repetition of these systematic hostile acts targeting civilian objects and vital facilities represents a serious escalation and a direct threat to the safety of air navigation and the security of civilians, necessitating accountability and punishment for those responsible.

Kuwait reaffirmed its absolute solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support alongside it, and its backing of all measures taken to safeguard its security and stability and to protect its citizens and residents on its territory. It affirmed that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Kuwait also expressed its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people, as well as to the governments and peoples of the countries to which the victims belong, and to their families and relatives. It extended wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Ministry called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and take a firm stance against these repeated attacks, ensuring the protection of civilian objects and civil aviation facilities, preventing their recurrence in the future, and guaranteeing that perpetrators do not escape punishment.

The Yemeni government condemned the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, affirming its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support in facing threats targeting its security, sovereignty, and civilian facilities.

The statement noted that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Yemen and the region, and that attacks on its territory and facilities infringe upon the rights of the region’s peoples to security, stability, freedom of movement, and the safety of air navigation.

It added that these attacks would not undermine the strong fraternal relations and shared destiny between the two countries, reiterating Yemen’s support for the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, and vital infrastructure.

The statement accused the Houthi militia of continuing to threaten the security of Yemen and the region by targeting civilian facilities as part of what it described as an Iranian expansionist project aimed at destabilizing the region and threatening international navigation. It considered the attacks on the Kingdom as an extension of the violations committed by the militia against Yemenis since their coup against the state.

The Yemeni government renewed its appreciation for the role played by Saudi Arabia and its leadership in supporting Yemen’s legitimate leadership and backing the Yemeni people in restoring state institutions and enhancing regional security and stability.

It emphasized that these attacks would not deter Yemenis from restoring state authority over the entire territory of the country and ending the Houthi coup.
