Trump: Time for a New President of Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said it was time for Ukraine to have a new president, noting that current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had not made sufficient efforts to end his country’s war with Russia.

Speaking at the White House on Saturday, Trump said, “I suggest they pick a new leader who can reach an agreement,” adding, “For some reason, Zelenskyy never does that.”

Trump also remarked that if he had been U.S. president in 2022, “that war would never have started,” adding, “There was no reason for that war between Ukraine and Russia. It erupted because of incompetence.”

Addressing Zelenskyy directly, Trump said, “You’ve lost 30% of your country’s territory, you have more than a million people displaced across the lines, and more than two million people have been killed. This is a war that should never have started in the first place. And I think it’s time for Ukraine to have a new president.”
