U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has returned to the United States after completing its approximately seven-month mission in the Middle East.
In a statement, CENTCOM said, “The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is returning today to its base in California after completing a historic mission in the Middle East.”
The statement added that more than 5,000 sailors and Marines participated in supporting thousands of combat air sorties against Iran, covering a distance of over 90,000 nautical miles.
The nuclear-powered carrier Lincoln had departed California in November 2025 to participate in operations in the South China Sea before being redirected to the Middle East on February 28 to take part in the war against Iran.
