Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal congratulated his national team players after they were crowned champions of the Gulf Cup of Nations “Gulf 27,” emphasizing that this triumph was the result of the support enjoyed by the sports sector from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Saudi national team defeated their UAE counterparts 2-0 in the final match held yesterday evening, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the tournament, securing their fourth Gulf Cup title—an achievement well deserved, and the first in approximately 23 years.
Both goals came within two minutes, with Hammam Al-Hammami opening the scoring for Saudi Arabia in the 11th minute, and his teammate Feras Al-Brikan adding the second goal in the 13th minute.
In remarks following his team’s coronation, the Sports Minister stated that the players delivered an outstanding championship, clearly demonstrated by their dedication on the pitch, marked by high concentration from everyone involved, including the players and the technical staff, as well as the efforts of the Saudi Football Federation.
The Kingdom will host the AFC Asian Cup from January 7 to February 5, 2027, with the Green Falcons dreaming of winning their fourth continental title, the first since 1996.
