During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the business communities of the State of Kuwait and the Italian Republic, and reviewed areas that could expand cooperation and foster partnerships between Kuwaiti and Italian companies.
The Italian side provided an overview of Confindustria Lombardia (Assoimpresalombarda), one of the largest entities representing the private sector in Italy, particularly in the regions of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Lodi, and Pavia. The association comprises more than 7,100 companies, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to multinational corporations, employing approximately 443,000 workers. The regions it covers account for about 13% of Italy’s gross domestic product. SMEs, most of which are family-owned businesses, constitute around 6,000 of the association’s total members.
The meeting also addressed several promising sectors for bilateral cooperation, including machinery and equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence applications in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as training and knowledge exchange in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises.
For his part, Al-Zaid welcomed the association’s orientation toward strengthening cooperation with the Kuwaiti business community, reaffirming the Chamber’s readiness to leverage its expertise and resources to facilitate communication between companies in the two countries. He also expressed the Chamber’s willingness to host a business meeting and an exhibition featuring Italian companies and their Kuwaiti counterparts at the Chamber’s headquarters, coinciding with the upcoming visit, thereby enabling direct engagement and the exploration of cooperation and partnership opportunities.
Al-Zaid further emphasized the Chamber’s readiness to disseminate and publicize Italian investment and trade opportunities to Kuwaiti companies, contributing to increased bilateral trade and encouraging mutual investments between the two countries.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of the distinguished economic and trade relations between the State of Kuwait and the Italian Republic. Italy ranks among Kuwait’s most important trading partners, holding the eighth position among countries exporting to the Kuwaiti market, providing a solid foundation for expanding cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.
