Trump Forms Federal Task Force to Coordinate AI Efforts

Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform that the working group, named “Superintelligence Force,” would coordinate federal efforts to ensure the United States continues to lead the world in artificial intelligence.
Trump also appointed Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Cubber as officials who will lead the team, which will report to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The announcement came after a meeting held at the White House on Tuesday between Trump and executives from major artificial intelligence companies, during which they signed a voluntary agreement calling for enhanced internal controls and review of AI models.
On the same day, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use the term “superintelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence,” according to a fact sheet issued by the White House on Tuesday.
