The Yemeni government army announced on Sunday the commencement of the “Liberation Battle,” aimed at restoring state institutions, ending the “Houthi coup,” alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and enabling Yemenis to exercise their right to a homeland “where the only sovereign is the people, and the only authority is the constitution and the rule of law.”
In a statement, Majid Al-Nazili, spokesperson for the armed forces, emphasized that “this pivotal battle aims to reclaim all state territories, establish full national sovereignty, and eradicate all manifestations of the blatant coup in areas of our country forcibly controlled by the Houthi militia, which have harmed the unified social fabric, violated established tribal customs, and extended their damage beyond Yemen to its regional and international surroundings.”
Al-Nazili clarified that “this national battle represents the true bridge to reintegrate our beloved country into its Arab environment and its authentic strategic depth among its brothers,” reaffirming “the state and its citizens’ inherent right to reclaim their full rights and live with dignity, while fully committing to protecting civilian lives and sparing them from any harm in all regions and governorates.”
The armed forces renewed their call to “all those misled and fighters within the Houthi militia ranks to lay down their arms and return safely to their homes, to save their lives and distance themselves from a losing inferno that serves only destructive agendas.”
Addressing Yemenis, Al-Nazili said, “O noble Yemeni people, your heroes in the armed forces, and all who fight for the homeland, advance steadily with resolve and unyielding combat will toward the strongholds of the rebellious Houthi terrorism, with their eyes fixed on clear victory. Rally around your armed forces and be their support and aid during these historic, turning-point moments in Yemen’s history.”
These developments follow the announcement by Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi on Sunday of the start of military operations to reclaim remaining territories of the republic and reestablish state authority and its institutions, following the “exhaustion of de-escalation opportunities.”
