3,000 US Soldiers Deployed in Israel in Anticipation of Regional Escalation

Israeli media reported on Sunday that approximately 3,000 U.S. soldiers are currently deployed in Israel, as U.S. forces prepare to send additional troops and aircraft in the coming weeks in anticipation of a potential escalation in the Middle East.

The report clarified that the U.S. military has been conducting a rotation of its forces in Israel over recent weeks, noting that these movements are partly part of routine rotations as the deployment periods of currently stationed units expire.

Alongside these reinforcements, the report discussed preparations within the Israeli military for the possibility of a new confrontation with Iran, amid Israeli assessments that U.S. economic pressures and sanctions are increasing the strain on Tehran.

Haaretz quoted a senior Israeli security official as saying that Israel’s adversaries are monitoring the elections in Israel and the United States, and are studying the possibility of carrying out attacks that could influence the domestic landscape without triggering a broad confrontation, according to his assessment.

The report also noted that the Israeli military is preparing for the possibility of a rapid deterioration in the confrontation with Iran, with part of the preparations focusing on scenarios that might require wide-scale Israeli attacks.

In this context, the website stated that close coordination continues between the Israeli military and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), in anticipation of the possibility of Iran launching missiles toward Israel or Jordan.

The mention of approximately 3,000 U.S. soldiers in Israel comes as Washington and Tehran continue their indirect communications, making military movements and preparations for escalation scenarios run parallel to diplomatic efforts.

According to the Haaretz report, the figure represents the total number of U.S. forces currently stationed across Israel in various roles, not 3,000 soldiers who arrived all at once recently. The new development lies in the expectation of additional troops and aircraft arriving in the coming weeks.
