Mohammad Akbari Nia, spokesperson for the Iranian military, said in an interview with the semi-official Fars News Agency published on Sunday that Iran needs to develop the range and speed of its missiles.

Akbari Nia described this step as necessary, noting that “hostile forces targeting Iran are now operating at distances of up to 1,000 kilometers from the country’s borders.”

This range encompasses the Gulf region, the Caucasus, and parts of Central Asia. It also covers all of eastern and central Turkey, including the Incirlik Air Base used by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Iran’s arsenal includes medium-range missiles capable of traveling between 1,500 and 2,000 kilometers, placing parts of southeastern and central Europe within their reach.
