263 properties in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to be demolished within two weeks

The Kuwait Municipality has issued a decision to demolish 263 properties in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, ordering the owners to vacate and raze the structures within two weeks of the decision’s publication in the Official Gazette, which appeared in today’s Sunday edition. The decision cited reports from the Government Center for Testing, Quality Control, and Research under the Ministry of Public Works, which confirmed that the buildings are structurally unsound, on the verge of collapse, and pose an imminent danger to lives, property, and public safety.

The decision, issued by the Municipality’s Director General and published in the October 4, 2026, edition of “Kuwait Al-Yawm,” stipulates that the Municipality will carry out the demolition at the owners’ expense if they fail to demolish the buildings within the specified deadline.

The text of the decision is as follows:

Article 1: Owners of the 263 properties located in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, listed in the annex below, are required to vacate and demolish them within two weeks from the date of publication of this decision in the Official Gazette (“Kuwait Al-Yawm”). This requirement follows findings from reports issued by the Government Center for Testing, Quality Control, and Research under the Ministry of Public Works, which confirmed that the buildings on these properties are structurally unsound, on the verge of collapse, and pose an imminent danger to lives, property, and public safety.

Article 2: The competent authority within the Municipality shall monitor the owners’ compliance with the demolition of the buildings listed in the annex to Article 1 of this decision within the stipulated timeframe.

If the owners fail to demolish the buildings after the expiration of the deadline granted to them under Article 1 of this decision, the competent authority within the Municipality shall proceed with their demolition at the owners’ expense, following confirmation that the properties are completely vacant.

Article 3: The competent authorities shall implement this decision. It shall be published in the Official Gazette (“Kuwait Al-Yawm”) and shall take effect from the date of its publication. The announcement shall constitute official notice to the owners of the contents herein.
