Social Security: Disbursement of frozen shares to those whose citizenship was revoked

The Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Abdulaziz Al-Murqoub, issued Decision No. 6 of 2026, which was published in the official gazette, “Kuwait Today,” in its issue released today.

Article One of the decision states: “Continued payment of suspended allowances to beneficiaries whose Kuwaiti citizenship was revoked, or to deceased insured persons or pensioners, shall resume in accordance with the provisions of Article 13, paragraph 4, of the Kuwaiti Citizenship Law, effective from the date of suspension, provided that the name of the deceased source is listed in the registers prepared by the Supreme Committee for the Verification of Kuwaiti Citizenship.”

Article Two stipulates that: “The provisions of the aforementioned Social Insurance Law shall apply to beneficiaries of this decision, except for Articles 73 and 75 thereof. The marriage grant stipulated in Article 71 of the same law shall not be paid to a daughter, sister, or niece who are entitled to allowances when payments are suspended due to marriage.”

Furthermore, the annual increase provided for in Law No. 25 of 2001 amending certain provisions of the Social Insurance Law and increasing pension benefits shall not apply to allowances reinstated under this decision.

Article Three provides that the Public Institution for Social Insurance shall implement the provisions of this decision. Article Four states: “This decision shall be published in the official gazette and shall take effect one month after its publication.”
