Italy Thanks Kuwait for Responding to Fuel Price Cuts

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni thanked Kuwait following the response of Kuwaiti company Q8 to an appeal by the Italian government to lower gasoline and diesel prices by imposing a price cap for 30 days at its service stations in Italy, which number approximately 2,900.

In a post on her personal X account, Meloni stated that “Q8 has provided another significant signal of its commitment to Italian families, following the decisions of Eni and IP.”

The price cap took effect on October 1 and covers gasoline and diesel at Q8 Italia stations, to be implemented gradually in a flexible manner that accommodates the varying conditions of the distribution network.

With Q8 joining Eni and IP, the number of fuel stations selling gasoline and diesel at prices below market levels will reach approximately 10,000 across Italy, accounting for nearly half of the country’s total network of highway and regular service stations.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also praised the move, writing on social media: “Another result stemming from our political and diplomatic efforts. The government continues to work on resolving the real problems faced by citizens.”
