The execution of the sentence followed the confirmation of the crime’s details, which began with the third defendant, a lawyer, luring the victim through a fake phone call under the pretext of conducting a home medical examination for her sick mother. The two defendants then paralyzed the victim’s mobility and injected him with a powerful sedative that rendered him unconscious, before transporting him in a wheelchair, while unconscious, to the main defendant’s clinic in the Sahel district.
The victim died as a result of acute circulatory and respiratory failure caused by repeated injections of excessive doses of sedatives and narcotics, without food or water for an extended period, before being buried in a pit and covered with ceramic tiles to conceal the crime. The body was eventually discovered after a foul odor emanated from the site, leading to their arrest.
The execution of the sentence applied to both Dr. Ahmed Shihata, as the mastermind behind the crime, and nurse Ahmed Faraj, after the Court of Cassation rejected the appeals filed by the defendants’ legal team.
In a related development, the court had upheld a 15-year hard labor prison sentence for lawyer Iman Mohamed Saleh due to her involvement in the same incident.
