Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahayb held talks with Italian Director General of Public Security Vittorio Pisani to explore ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides. The meeting took place in Rome as part of his official visit to the friendly Italian Republic, with Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy, Nasser Sanhat Al-Qahtani, in attendance.
During the meeting, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahayb conveyed greetings and appreciation from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Sabah, emphasizing the First Deputy Prime Minister’s commitment to continuing the development of security cooperation ties between Kuwait and the friendly Italian Republic, and expanding areas of coordination, expertise exchange, and information sharing to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
The talks addressed ways to strengthen cooperation in several security areas of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime and illicit drug trafficking, confronting cybercrime and financial and economic crimes, enhancing border security, and exchanging expertise in training and capacity-building, as well as leveraging modern technologies and solutions to support security operations.
The parties also discussed developing mechanisms for information exchange between the competent authorities in both countries, strengthening preventive and proactive capabilities to address emerging criminal patterns, and utilizing modern technologies in monitoring, analysis, and detection operations, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of security work and addressing security challenges.
Additionally, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahayb met with several senior officials at the Italian Ministry of the Interior, discussing various topics of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.
The Deputy Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation toured several departments under the Italian Ministry of the Interior, where they reviewed their operational nature, coordination mechanisms among competent authorities, and the key systems and technologies used to support security missions and improve performance efficiency.
