While Justice Minister Advisor Nasser Al-Sumait requested the Supreme Council of the Judiciary to express its opinion, in accordance with the law governing the judiciary, regarding the nomination and appointment of Advisors Hani Al-Humdan as President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Council of the Judiciary, and Darar Al-Waqian as his deputy, Tariq Al-Jaber as President of the Court of Appeal, Abdulmohsen Al-Tabtabaie as his deputy, Abdullah Al-Qasimi as President of the Court of First Instance, and the appointment of Advisor Saud Al-Sanaa as Attorney General after his promotion, Al-Jareeda learned that the Council of the Judiciary expressed its approval for the appointment of the presidents of the three courts, with their appointment decisions to be published separately. Advisor Saud Youssef Al-Sanaa is to be appointed Attorney General immediately upon the approval of his promotion, which he is entitled to under the law, following the issuance of a separate decision regarding him.
It is worth noting that the President of the Council of the Judiciary, Advisor Hani Al-Humdan, previously held a position in the Judicial Inspection Authority, and later headed the Kuwait Institute for Judicial Studies. He also previously presided over the felony divisions in the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal, and served as President of the Ministers’ Court for three consecutive years.
As for Advisor Saud Youssef Al-Sanaa, who will assume the post of Attorney General upon the approval of his promotion, his last position in the Public Prosecution was Head of the Public Funds Prosecution. He also served as a member of the Standing Investigation Committee at the Ministers’ Court for three years, a member of the Technical Office at the Institute for Judicial Studies, and Deputy Director of the Institute, in addition to his membership in the Second Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal.
Al-Sanaa also headed the Committee for Reviewing and Amending the Kuwaiti Penal Code, which was established by Justice Minister Advisor Nasser Al-Sumait last year.
