Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, held a technical meeting today with its counterparts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the latest developments in the water interconnection project between the two countries, and to review the technical and operational requirements associated with it. This meeting is part of the agenda for the technical visit and meeting scheduled for September 29 and 30.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the technical and operational aspects related to the bilateral water interconnection project, reviewed the scope of work associated with the project, and examined and discussed the technical information and requirements exchanged between the two parties, contributing to the completion of studies and coordination regarding the water interconnection requirements between the two countries.
The meeting addressed the next steps in the project and explored mechanisms for completing technical coordination between the two sides, in light of the requirements that were reviewed and discussed, thereby supporting continued joint efforts on various aspects related to the project’s implementation.
The first day of the technical visit included a tour of the control room at Kuwait’s National Water Control Center, to observe the mechanisms for monitoring, controlling, operating, and managing the water network, and to familiarize participants with the network management system and its operational processes. This visit supported ongoing technical discussions and enhanced the exchange of expertise and coordination between the two sides regarding the water interconnection project.
The meeting comes within the framework of continuing technical coordination between the two countries on the water interconnection project, strengthening joint cooperation in examining technical and operational requirements, and completing the necessary steps to advance the project, in accordance with agreements reached between the two sides.
