Nesreen Qatamish, Director General of the Hussein Cancer Foundation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirmed today that Kuwait is a pioneering model in humanitarian work and in supporting patients and those in need, commending the ongoing partnership with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in providing healthcare to cancer patients, particularly refugees and displaced persons.

Speaking to KUNA after meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamsi, Qatamish stated that Kuwait, under its leadership, government, and people, embodies the values of solidarity and human compassion through its continuous initiatives to support the most vulnerable groups and enhance patients’ access to treatment.

She noted that approximately 120 patients per month, including Syrian refugees and patients from the Gaza Strip and Palestine, are awaiting treatment, underscoring the need to strengthen support for the Khair and Zakat Fund and to upgrade medical devices and equipment to ensure the continuity of therapeutic services.

She added that the Foundation currently treats more than 35,000 patients, with Arab patients accounting for about 30 percent of this number, including individuals from Gaza, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan. The Foundation is working to develop its medical system and expand its humanitarian partnerships to provide advanced healthcare.

For his part, Al-Mughamsi emphasized that the Society prioritizes supporting health and humanitarian initiatives, especially those aimed at improving healthcare for refugees, displaced persons, and cancer patients, based on its conviction that treatment is a fundamental human right for everyone in need. He further stated that the Society is committed to continuing its cooperation with the Hussein Cancer Foundation to enhance patients’ access to necessary medical care, particularly for refugees and displaced persons facing exceptional health and humanitarian conditions.
