Bouqrain concludes handball World Cup campaign with match against Hungarian Veszprém

The Al-Burqan handball team, the Asian champions, will conclude their group stage campaign in the Club World Cup “Super Globe” tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. against Hungarian side Veszprém, in the third and final matchday of Group A, currently being held in Egypt’s new administrative capital and running until October 1.

Al-Burqan suffered their second consecutive defeat at the tournament yesterday in the second matchday, losing 35-17 to hosts Al-Ahly Egyptian. In the same group, Veszprém defeated German club Füchse Berlin 34-33. In Group B, Spanish giants Barcelona beat Egyptian side Zamalek 39-29, while Brazilian team Pinheiros defeated Moroccan club Forum Sultan 37-22.

With these results, Hungarian Veszprém topped Group A with four points, moving close to reaching the final. They are followed by German side Füchse Berlin in second place, separated from Egyptian Al-Ahly by goal difference, with both teams holding two points. Al-Burqan remained in fourth and last place with no points.

In Group B, Barcelona led the standings with four points, nearing the securing of their spot in the final. Zamalek came second, and Pinheiros third, both on two points and separated by goal difference. Moroccan club Forum Sultan remained in last place without any points.

Al-Burqan aims to gain maximum technical benefit from tomorrow’s match and make up for their previous losses to Füchse Berlin and Al-Ahly by delivering a respectable performance that challenges the strength and ambition of the Hungarian team, which is seeking a third consecutive victory to book its place in the final.

The third matchday features three other fixtures: Zamalek will face Brazilian Pinheiros at 1:15 p.m., and Barcelona will play Moroccan Forum Sultan at 3:30 p.m. The day’s matches will conclude with Al-Ahly taking on Füchse Berlin at 8:00 p.m.
