Liverpool suffered two blows during the international break with injuries to their strikers Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo, who were with the Sweden and Netherlands national teams, respectively, in the UEFA Nations League.
Isak left the Sweden camp and returned to Liverpool due to what the club described as a “minor injury.” After playing the full match against Romania on Friday, which Sweden won 2-1, he will miss the next three Nations League games for his country.
Gakpo tried to continue playing but was ultimately forced off the pitch during the match in which the Netherlands won 2-1 on Sunday.
Liverpool are preparing to face Manchester City in their first match after the international break, with the two teams meeting at Anfield on October 11.
