"Al-Qanoun Al-Global" Discusses the Role of Applied Research in Developing Education

The Dean of the College, Dr. Mohammed Al-Muqata, opened his address by emphasizing the importance of supporting the proper implementation of the scientific research strategy, the quality and sustainability of education, and the enhancement of community, national, and international partnerships within the educational institution. He highlighted the significance of engaging in dialogue with faculty members regarding developments in applied scientific research, as well as the research impact and added value it generates. This includes issues related to the financing mechanism for applied scientific research and linking it with public and private entities in the country, so that researchers arrive at practical, applicable outcomes to address shortcomings in relevant sectors.

The conference’s themes also focused on framing the concept of “applied scientific research” as a research paradigm that transcends the boundaries of traditional academic publishing to achieve practical, executable application. This is accomplished by transforming theoretical outputs into innovative projects, contractual solutions, and community partnerships with beneficiary entities, while also providing diverse opportunities for institutional cooperation and attracting research funding, thereby solidifying the scientific and societal impact of the educational institution.

The conference’s opening session featured a conceptual working paper presented by Dr. Al-Muqata, titled “Research and Its Role in Developing and Stabilizing the University Institution.” The paper concluded with key premises, particularly concerning the developmental impact of scientific research. It emphasized that scientific research serves as a primary driver for developing universities and enhancing their competitiveness, as its value extends beyond the internal academic scope to directly contribute to addressing societal issues and building sustainable national and international partnerships. The opening session was followed by three scientific sessions.
