Delta Air Lines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Portugal After Smoke Fills Cabin

A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency landing on Sunday at Porto Airport in Portugal after smoke was detected in the cabin, with four passengers taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the Civil Protection Agency.

Media reports added that the plane was en route from Barcelona to Boston in the United States, carrying 296 passengers.

The Civil Protection Agency stated that 14 passengers required medical attention following the safe landing at the airport located in northern Portugal.

A spokesperson for the agency noted that four of them were hospitalized due to mild respiratory difficulties caused by inhaling smoke.

The agency said the cause of the incident remains unclear.
