The Kuwait Stock Exchange opened the week with modest gains on Sunday, as key indices held steady and trading activity continued across several mid-cap and small-cap stocks. The session was characterized by a clear increase in trading volumes, while the value of liquidity remained largely stable at levels seen at the close of last week’s Thursday session.

The General Market Index closed up 0.09%, or 7.77 points, at 8,844.78 points. The First Market Index rose 0.09%, or 8.66 points, to 9,235.74 points, and the Main Market Index gained 0.06%, or 5.44 points, to 9,164.63 points. Meanwhile, the Main 50 Index slightly bucked the trend, falling 0.01%, or 1.32 points, to 10,538.39 points.

The market capitalization of the Kuwait Stock Exchange increased by approximately 46.7 million dinars during the session, reaching about 52.972 billion dinars, compared to roughly 52.925 billion dinars at the close of last Thursday’s session, representing growth of approximately 0.09%. Trading value amounted to about 87.59 million dinars, with 414.84 million shares traded across 20,380 transactions.

Compared to Thursday’s session, which saw liquidity of about 87.92 million dinars and 351.63 million shares traded, the current session showed a notable shift: trading value remained nearly stable, while traded volumes rose by approximately 18%.

This divergence indicates a shift of greater activity toward lower-priced stocks, particularly in the Main Market, rather than a similar expansion in liquidity directed toward leading stocks, which also aligns with the limited movements in the General and First Market indices.

Kuwait Finance House topped the list of most-traded stocks by value, with approximately 4.5 million dinars traded, up 0.13%. It was followed by Boubyan Bank, with about 3.56 million dinars traded and a gain of 1.93%. EVA came next, with trading value of about 3.49 million dinars and a rise of 2.52%, while Burkan Bank’s trades reached about 2.77 million dinars, and Arzan reached about 2.2 million dinars.

Among the top gainers, EVA led with a 2.52% increase, followed by Boubyan Bank at 1.93%, EVA Hotels at 1.63%, Aayan at 1.42%, and Al Mubadala at 0.75%.

Sectorally, the picture was positive for most market segments, with nine sectors rising, three declining, and one remaining flat.

Conversely, the Energy sector fell 1.46%, Technology declined 1.03%, and Industry dropped 0.30%, while the Healthcare sector remained unchanged.
