Foreign Minister to Iran: Stop the heinous attacks and support proxies and militias
Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber reiterated Kuwait’s condemnation of the reprehensible Iranian attacks against the country since February 28, 2026, which targeted civilian assets and vital infrastructure, in a blatant violation of the state’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of the UN Charter. He emphasized that Kuwait has not been a party to any conflict and does not permit the use of its territory, airspace, or territorial waters to launch hostile acts against any state.
During a speech at the Group of 77 meeting at UN headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Minister Al-Jaber called for the complete and unconditional cessation of these reprehensible attacks, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty of regional states and fully comply with the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). He reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region, and underscored the necessity of reaching regional understandings based on a firm commitment to the principles of good neighborliness, respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, refraining from the use of force, halting support for proxies and militias, addressing security concerns—including the Iranian nuclear file, ballistic missiles, and drones—and ensuring freedom of international navigation in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab in accordance with the provisions of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
On another matter, Minister Al-Jaber stressed that the Palestinian issue no longer requires further diagnosis but rather political will and implementation.
Speaking at the high-level ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, he stated that the continuation of occupation and settlement activities, along with attempts to alter the geographic and demographic reality, undermines the two-state solution. He also emphasized, during a speech at the ministerial meeting to support UNRWA, the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 and supporting reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.
In a separate development, Minister Al-Jaber signed with El Salvador’s Foreign Minister, Alexandra Hill Tenorio, an agreement between the Government of Kuwait and the Republic of El Salvador regarding visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, and official passports.
He reviewed during the meetings the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance and develop them, as well as the latest developments on the regional and international scenes.
Minister Al-Jaber also participated in the joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem, to discuss the latest developments in Jerusalem and ways to enhance Arab and Islamic coordination to preserve the historical and legal status quo and safeguard its holy sites.
Additionally, the Foreign Minister attended the reception for the Forum of Small States (FOSS), organized by the Republic of Singapore.
