Al-Zafiri seeks the 800m final... and the throwers begin their campaign

Our national team’s runner Ibrahim Al-Dhafiri will compete in the heats of the 800m race at the Asian Games tomorrow, aiming to secure a spot in the final and contend for top positions, backed by his high level of fitness and his recent gold medal win at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea in May 2025.

Meanwhile, Yaqoub Al-Yahya concluded his campaign in the 110m hurdles after recording a time of 13.88 seconds in the heats, failing to reach the final.

In handball, our national team was eliminated from the quarter-finals following a 32-37 loss to Japan, missing the chance to defend its bronze medal from Hangzhou 2023. Similarly, our national sabre fencing team exited in the round of 16 after a 35-45 defeat to Japan, with Ammar Al-Ammari, Yousif Al-Shamlan, Mohammed Abdul-Karim, and Abdulaziz Juma representing the team.

On another note, our national padel team launched its training camp in Japan in preparation for the competitions, which begin the day after tomorrow (Monday). The squad features a full roster including Fouad Bahbahani, Abdulrahman Al-Awadi, Mariam Al-Sarraj, Dalal Al-Qanaei, Hussein Shams, Abdulaziz Rida, Nour Hussein, and Zainab Hamad, under the supervision of technical coach Viscay Joscardo, fitness coach Lisandro Ferreira, and strength and conditioning coach Mohammad Babajan, alongside administrators Syed Hamza Al-Muzaydi and Dana Khaja.

As for the karate delegation, it arrived in Kuwait after participating in the Asian Games, where Syed Mohammed Al-Musawi, Syed Salman Al-Musawi, and Mohammed Ahmed Badr won gold in the team kata event, and Syed Mohammed Al-Musawi claimed an individual bronze medal. The delegation was welcomed by Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sports Bashir Abdullah, Karate Federation President Ahmed bin Yousef, and Secretary-General Abdulaziz Al-Dhaeidi.
