Salah to miss South Sudan match

The Egyptian Football Association’s media center stated: “The technical staff’s decision was made due to the match being played on an artificial turf (Tartan) surface, as Hossam Hassan preferred not to risk Salah’s participation and to preserve his fitness.”

The Egyptian national team’s technical staff had previously agreed with Salah, ahead of the match against Angola, that he would not participate in the game against South Sudan due to the nature of the pitch.

The Egyptian national team opened its campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a goalless draw against Angola in a match held on Friday evening at Cairo International Stadium.
