Vietnamese Ambassador: We look forward to $12 billion in trade with Kuwait

Nguyen Duc Thang, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Kuwait, affirmed that Kuwaiti-Vietnamese relations are entering a new phase of cooperation. He noted his country’s aspiration to raise the volume of bilateral trade with Kuwait to $12 billion by 2030, and to leverage available opportunities to enhance cooperation in the energy, food security, digital transformation, finance, logistics, education, and tourism sectors.

In a speech delivered during the embassy’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Hamad Al-Mishaan, several ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Kuwait, as well as members of the Vietnamese community, the Ambassador stated that Kuwait is the “largest investor from the Middle East in Vietnam,” with investments exceeding $3.5 billion. He also noted that Kuwait is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and Africa, adding, “We take pride in its supportive stance toward our people.”

Thang added that bilateral trade between the two countries has ranged between $7 billion and $7.5 billion annually over the past three years, expressing his country’s hope to continue the growth of economic relations and reach $12 billion in trade by 2030.
