First Deputy: Kuwait keen on active participation in international forums concerned with security and criminal justice
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef chaired the Kuwait delegation participating in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, and witnessed the opening of its proceedings in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, during his official visit to the UAE. The delegation was attended by the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the country and included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Head of the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, alongside high-level participation from representatives of countries and international organizations, as well as experts and specialists.
The conference addresses a number of security and judicial issues and challenges, foremost among them combating organized crime and terrorism, strengthening criminal justice systems and the rule of law, developing crime prevention strategies, and responsibly leveraging modern technologies. It also aims to enhance international cooperation and partnerships, exchange expertise and best practices, contribute to building capacities to confront evolving crime patterns, and promote access to justice amid rapid digital transformations.
On the sidelines of the conference’s opening, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef held meetings with Anas Al-Khatib, Syria’s Minister of Interior, and his accompanying delegation, as well as with Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs, and his delegation. The discussions focused on ways to enhance security cooperation, exchange expertise, and coordinate in areas of mutual interest.
Al-Yousef emphasized that Kuwait’s participation in the conference reflects its commitment to active engagement in international forums concerned with security and criminal justice, supporting joint efforts, and strengthening cooperation and coordination among countries to confront security challenges, combat crime, and enhance security and stability.
