197,000 female students trained in self-examination and early detection of breast cancer

Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “KAN” and Chairman of the Executive Committee, stated that awareness and knowledge constitute a fundamental pillar for prevention, early detection, and enhancing recovery prospects. He noted that breast cancer ranks first among the most prevalent types of cancer among women in the country.
He added that this year’s initiative builds on a cumulative track record, during which “KAN” successfully trained 197,000 high school students in self-examination and early detection. A strategy has been developed to expand the target audience, reaching hundreds of thousands of high school and university students, employees, volunteers, women with disabilities, and survivors.
For her part, Dr. Hessa Al-Shahin, Board Member and Chair of the Breast Cancer Initiative, emphasized that the success of awareness campaigns relies on community partnership and the integration of roles among various stakeholders. She highlighted the participation of a large team of specialists and volunteers in ensuring the initiative’s success and reinforcing its goal of transitioning from mere awareness and correct knowledge to adopting healthy behaviors and lifestyles.
She clarified that the initiative underscores the importance of the private sector’s role and its corporate social responsibility in supporting health awareness. She affirmed that the campaign is based on collaboration with the Ministry of Health, official authorities, public benefit associations, and cancer centers, through examinations, seminars, and awareness activities conducted in educational institutions, commercial complexes, and other community venues.
