UN Security Council condemns Houthi militia attacks on Saudi Arabia: targeting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and energy facilities

The United Nations Security Council condemned on Friday the escalating attacks carried out by the Houthi militia in Yemen against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a joint statement read by Jerome Bonafous, the French representative, with France holding the Council’s rotating presidency, it was stated: “Members of the Security Council strongly condemn the continuation of Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including those targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, which have resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.”

The Council’s member states expressed concern over these attacks and their threat to civilian security and regional stability, emphasizing the “importance of acting in accordance with international law” and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation.
