Turkey detains 83 people suspected of links to ISIS

The Turkish Ministry of Interior said on Friday that authorities detained 83 individuals suspected of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) militants in operations across 28 provinces.

The ministry added via the X platform that the detainees are suspected of being members of ISIS and of financing the group through affiliated individuals.

The operations were carried out by the regional gendarmerie’s counter-terrorism units based on orders from the prosecutor’s office.

ISIS has been blamed for a series of deadly attacks in Turkey in recent years. Turkish authorities stated that they have intensified their crackdown on the organization’s networks and financing across the country over the past few months.
