German Defense Minister Holds Talks in Hungary on Military Cooperation

The German Defense Ministry in Berlin said that Pistorius will meet his Hungarian counterpart, Romulus Ruszin-Szendrei, there. The two ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference following the meeting.

Germany and Hungary are linked by several arms cooperation projects, with Hungary modernizing its armed forces using German weapons systems. Under the previous Hungarian government led by Viktor Orban, which was seen as pro-Russian, Hungary was somewhat of a difficult partner within the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). However, under the current government, prospects for expanding cooperation are emerging.
