Foreign Minister: Safeguarding the Right of Children and Youth to Build a Better Future
This was stated in a speech he delivered yesterday during the high-level event titled “Doubling the Potential: A New Era for Education Financing,” organized by the Italian and Nigerian governments in cooperation with the Global Partnership for Education, at United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Al-Jaber highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to continuing the development of its education system, enhancing the quality of education, leveraging digital transformation, and developing youth skills to meet the demands of the labor market. He affirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at expanding access to education, particularly in developing countries.
He noted that Kuwait, through its national and development institutions, foremost among them the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, continues to support projects and programs in sister and friendly countries, including those related to education and human capacity development, as well as supporting educational programs of international organizations.
He emphasized the importance of protecting education during times of crisis and ensuring sustainable and adequate funding to guarantee the continuity of the educational process and safeguard the right of children and youth to build a better future. He reiterated Kuwait’s support for international efforts aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 and strengthening international partnerships to build more inclusive and higher-quality education systems.
In a related development, Minister Al-Jaber participated in a high-level event titled “A Call to Action for Children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip,” held at United Nations headquarters and jointly organized by Jordan, Belgium, and the European Union. The event addressed ways to enhance the protection of Palestinian children and meet their basic needs, as well as the humanitarian conditions facing children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and ways to strengthen their protection and support efforts to provide them with essential care and services.
In another development, Minister Al-Jaber met with his counterparts: Morocco’s Nasser Bourita, Kyrgyzstan’s Jenbek Kuluubaev, and Singapore’s Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meetings focused on exploring ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations, as well as discussing the latest regional and international developments.
Minister Al-Jaber also discussed with Donald Blum, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between Kuwait and the United States across various fields.
This took place during his reception of the U.S. official at the Kuwaiti Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York yesterday evening, where the meeting covered the latest regional and international developments.
Minister Al-Jaber also received Masad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, at the Kuwaiti Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting reviewed the strategic relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly United States of America, discussed the latest regional developments, exchanged views on these matters, and addressed efforts aimed at supporting security and stability in the region.
