The Kuwait Stock Exchange witnessed a divergence among its main indices during mid-session trading on Thursday, with limited profit-taking observed on several leading stocks, while buying activity continued in a segment of the main market, keeping market momentum intact following yesterday’s gains.

Meanwhile, the main market maintained its positive trend, rising 0.28% (25.25 points) to 9,163.04 points. The “Main 50” index was the best-performing among the main indices, climbing 0.62% (65.19 points) to 10,528.20 points.

Trading value reached approximately 48.5 million Kuwaiti dinars by mid-session, involving 146.4 million shares across 12,380 transactions. The market’s total capitalization stood at around 52.84 billion dinars.

This mixed performance follows a strong trading session on Wednesday, when the general market index rose 0.86% to 8,830.61 points, the first market gained 0.93% to 9,223.53 points, the main market advanced 0.55% to 9,137.79 points, and the “Main 50” index rose 0.61% to 10,463.01 points, amid high liquidity of about 117.2 million dinars.

Trading activity up to mid-session indicates that the market has entered a phase of liquidity reallocation and rotation following yesterday’s broad-based index gains. Rather than widespread selling, pressure was concentrated on certain components of the first market, while momentum persisted in several main market stocks.

This divergence was clearly reflected in the “Main 50” index rising by more than 0.6%, while the first market experienced a modest decline, signaling a shift in activity toward mid- and small-cap stocks and continued selective speculation on some of them.

On the stock level, Al-Khaliji topped the list of most-traded stocks by value at around 4.2 million dinars, rising 10%. It was followed by Al-Watani, with trading value of about 3.68 million dinars.

Bit Al-Tamwil ranked third with liquidity of approximately 2.65 million dinars, then Awal Takaful with around 2.45 million dinars, while Eva recorded trading volume of about 2.05 million dinars.
