Saudi Ambassador: Our relationship with Kuwait is an exceptional model that cannot be reduced to files or books
The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Kuwait, His Highness Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid Al Saud, affirmed that Kuwaiti-Saudi relations represent an exceptional model that cannot be reduced to volumes or books. He noted that what unites the two countries and their peoples is greater than what can be confined within a single political, economic, or social framework.
In a telephone intervention on Al-Akhbariya Channel, Prince Sultan bin Saad stated that the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait are not merely diplomatic ties that began at a specific point in time, but rather exceptional, deeply rooted historical relationships spanning more than 150 years, which distinguishes them from conventional state-to-state relations.
He clarified that these relations have remained steadfast, anchored in the foundation upon which they were built, and have transcended various circumstances and changes. He pointed out that geography and history books, as well as natural boundaries alone, cannot fully explain the depth and uniqueness of this relationship.
He added that there is much that unites the Kuwaiti and Saudi peoples, highlighting that the most prominent common denominators include religion, customs, traditions, and social values, alongside generosity, chivalry, and nobility, which form part of the shared value system binding the two peoples.
He considered these commonalities to be just a fraction of the numerous ties connecting Kuwait and the Kingdom and their peoples, emphasizing that the depth and diversity of this relationship transcend any single framework that might seek to reduce it.
Speaking about Saudi National Day, Prince Sultan bin Saad affirmed that this occasion holds a special place in the hearts of the Kingdom’s citizens, serving as an opportunity to recall the nation-building journey led by the Founding King, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, and the efforts he exerted to build a state that has today become a pivotal force at both the regional and international levels.
He explained that celebrating National Day is a tribute to the Kingdom’s history and achievements, and a remembrance of the progress and development realized, transforming the dreams and aspirations of the Founder into a tangible reality that the Kingdom experiences today.
He noted that celebrating this occasion in Kuwait carries exceptional significance, stating, “From here, in Kuwait, the journey of unifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began; therefore, celebrating it in Kuwait has a different flavor.”
He expressed his hope that the joy between the Kingdom and Kuwait, and among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, would endure. He affirmed that the bonds and ties uniting the peoples of the region make their national occasions a source of shared happiness, wishing for the continuation of days of goodness and celebrations among the brothers.
Prince Sultan bin Saad recalled the vision of King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him, regarding the unification of the Kingdom, emphasizing that it was a forward-looking vision through which he recognized that unifying the country constitutes the foundation for building a stable state capable of achieving development.
He clarified that the development and renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom today represent an extension of that journey that began with unification, followed by successive stages of construction and development under the leadership of the sons of the Founding King, culminating in the era of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
He stated that the experience of nation-building confirms that achieving accomplishments requires “a clear vision, will, investment in human capital, and continuity of effort,” which are the principles upon which the Kingdom’s journey has been built since its establishment.
Prince Sultan bin Saad pointed out that the Saudi citizen today represents one of the most significant fruits of this journey, given the presence and distinction achieved in various fields. He affirmed the Kingdom’s continued commitment to building upon what King Abdulaziz established and what his sons followed, with the aim of elevating the status of the Saudi citizen and enhancing the Kingdom’s standing among advanced nations.
He added that the Kingdom is continuing its path toward greater progress and prosperity, drawing on the legacy of the Founder and the accumulated experiences, expertise, and achievements across the various stages of the state.
Regarding the development the Kingdom is witnessing across various sectors, Prince Sultan bin Saad clarified that the significant progress Saudi Arabia is experiencing today is not the product of a single phase, but rather the result of a cumulative journey that began at the time of the state’s founding and progressed through successive stages of construction, planning, and development.
He stated that this journey has been built on hard work, planning, and investment in human capital, the economy, and infrastructure, noting that these pillars have formed a crucial foundation for the Kingdom’s current advancements in multiple fields.
He emphasized that Saudi leadership is committed to continuing the work laid down by fathers and forefathers, and to elevating the Saudi citizen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the ranks of major global powers. He pointed out that Vision 2030 represents a continuation of this approach, focusing on sustaining development and enhancing the capabilities of the Saudi human capital and the national economy, thereby supporting the Kingdom’s future and strengthening its standing.
