Al-Yousef: We are participating in the 27th Gulf Cup with the ambition of competing for the title

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Football Association, affirmed his confidence in his national team’s ability to compete for the title of the Gulf Arab Cup, “Gulf Cup 27.”

The Gulf Arab Cup tournament kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, and will run until October 6 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In statements reported by Kuwait’s Al-Riyadhia TV channel, Al-Yousef said: “Without a doubt, we are preparing the team and organizing training camps to compete in every tournament we participate in. As for the outcome, it is by the grace of God Almighty.”

Al-Riyadhia also quoted Al-Yousef, via its official account on the X platform, as saying: “This Gulf tournament is a traditional competition that has been around for more than 50 years. Everyone is striving to win it, and all teams have prepared in the best possible way. God willing, it will be a successful tournament, especially as it coincides with Saudi National Day.”

He added: “We have arranged for a supporters’ group of 20 people who will be present in Jeddah starting tomorrow, in addition to three flights with a total capacity of approximately 650 fans. We expect additional flights, on top of the large number of Kuwaiti youth already residing in Saudi Arabia.”

The President of the Kuwait Football Association praised the fruitful cooperation with the Saudi side on the sidelines of the tournament, emphasizing that everyone in Saudi Arabia is providing all possible support and cooperation.

The Kuwaiti national team will open its campaign against Saudi Arabia in Group A, which also includes Iraq and Oman. Group B features Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
