"Environment Protection": Action Plan to Combat Climate Change and Mitigate Disasters

The Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection participated virtually in the Executive Office meeting of the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) to discuss several key issues and the network’s work plan for 2026–2028.

Dr. Wijdan Al-Aqab, President of the Society, stated that the Society’s participation in the meeting is part of its role as the national coordinator for RAED in Kuwait and the coordinator at the Gulf level, thereby enhancing the contribution of environmental civil society institutions in Gulf states to the network’s activities and regional programs.

Al-Aqab explained that the network’s 2026–2028 plan encompasses a wide range of pillars aimed at strengthening the network’s role at both the regional and international levels, expanding its cooperation with Arab and international organizations, and implementing activities and projects in the areas of climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, combating desertification, youth, sustainable development, media and communication, and resource development.

She noted that the meeting approved the Green Schools Program and requested its submission to the Arab League Observatory. The Society presented an overview of the latest developments in Kuwait, most notably the institutional evolution related to the Ministry of Development and Sustainability, which reflects a national trend toward integrating environmental and sustainable development agendas.
