Chinese Ambassador: We are ready to cooperate with Kuwait in developing ports and infrastructure
Chinese Ambassador to the country, Yang Xin, affirmed that Sino-Kuwaiti relations are experiencing growing momentum and rapid development. He noted that cooperation between the two countries has entered a "faster track" thanks to strategic guidance from the leaderships of both nations, with the scope of partnership expanding to encompass political, economic, cultural, scientific, technological, and security sectors.
These remarks were made in statements to journalists on the sidelines of a reception hosted by the embassy to mark the National Day and the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait. The event was attended by Dr. Subai Al-Mukhazim, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy; Nawaf Al-Hamad, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs; Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mishal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense; along with a large gathering of officials, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, and public figures.
Yang Xin stated that Kuwait and China are working to enhance the high-quality alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with "Kuwait Vision 2035," thereby opening broader horizons for cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, and construction, as well as in the development of ports, logistics zones, and supply chains.
He added that China is ready to deepen cooperation with Kuwait in developing ports and infrastructure, and to strengthen collaboration in logistics and supply chain areas, in a manner that achieves mutual benefit and shared development.
Regarding strategic projects, the Ambassador clarified that some construction projects have been affected by regional developments but remain ongoing. He pointed to the signing of a contract for a water treatment project, noting that implementation works will begin soon, and expressed his expectation that additional contracts will be signed during the current year.
Concerning security and defense coordination and cooperation between Kuwait and China, Yang Xin affirmed that this cooperation constitutes an important part of the bilateral relations, noting that there is good cooperation between the two countries in this field.
He revealed that the ammunition factory in Kuwait began operations at the start of the current year. He also highlighted the continued exchange of visits between the armed forces of the two countries, as well as student exchanges, affirming that military cooperation between the two nations is witnessing increasing expansion.
